Lambeau Field

What an emotional day. Don’t laugh, but during our one hour tour of Lambeau Field, I got so emotional. You guys, if you’ve not been ~ you must! And the Packer Hall of Fame is sooo worth the time and money. Just seeing the Lombardi Trophy back in Green Bay was awesome!
And thanks to my dear friend and devout Viking fan Don Nelsen, I wore the jersey he got me for my 50th birthday with my name on the back. Folks, that up there, is a moment I will never forget.

The Green Bay Packers are truly America’s team. No, really they are. The Packers are the only sports team owned by the fans. Their 92 year history is the best feel-good story in sports. And seriously, with a population of only 100,000 people! No way would the NFL let a city that small buy a franchise today. The Green Bay Packers paid $250 dollars to become a franchise. And the newest NFL team, the Houston Texans paid $800 million dollars! How crazy is that!

Just to be standing on that hallowed field while the Green Bay Packers
are the reigning Super Bowl Champs ~ well, it doesn't get much better than that.
Ok, so maybe seeing an actual game someday would trump that :)

So anyway, here I sit hours later. This is my view along the banks of the Green Bay at Peninsula State Park in Door County, Wisconsin. I have walked the rocky shores, hiked a trail and taken way too many pictures, while Randy naps in our pumpkin-colored car. And because I don’t want to forget this moment, I pulled out my laptop to pour out my thoughts.

I am filled with wonder at the beauty all around me ~
the crashing waves, the brilliant leaves, the cool breezes, the quiet calm.
We have two days on this peninsula of paradise with zero expectations...
with very little on our agenda.
Just blessings abounding at every bend and corner.
And I don't want to miss a single moment because of my plans, my agenda.
So I can hardly wait to see what tomorrow holds. I think it's going to be wonderful.
