kitchen remodel- part 2

My kitchen sink was hauled off today. I couldn't even bring myself to document the event. The reality of what that means set in and I retreated to my bedroom for the rest of the day... with visions of bathtub duty in the very near future.

Yes, I hunkered down for the day... very thankful for my companion, Mac. Occasionally I would venture out with camera in hand, snap a few shots, grab an apple, a bottle of water and then back to my Mac.

At times the noise was deafening. But guess what? I am really & truly loving every moment. Because it's happening! We're doing something! Ok, so Randy and the crew are doing something. But the sounds of progress make me so very happy.

Wow, I can't believe that's my former kitchen up there!

And just when I thought I could handle most anything, the heating & cooling guys show up to remove all the old duct work. Which is code for... exposed attic... and mass amounts of insulation falling onto my kitchen floor.

And seriously, you can't contain this fluff. IT'S EVERYWHERE! I thought I had sealed off all the important areas. But who was I kidding! You can't! I opened up my pantry closet hours later and everything was covered in a layer of insulation.

They literally filled dozens & dozens of leaf-bags full of insulation, that will later be dumped back in the attic at the completion of our new kitchen.

And how adorable is my handy handsome husband!
I'm taking him out to dinner tonight. My treat. Because he's awesome. And because I don't have a kitchen anyway. Oh, but don't tell him that. Let him believe it's cuz I love & appreciate him more than anyone else on the planet. Cuz really I do.

  1. Looks like great progress is being made. Be sure to let us know when you want to come and hang out here to get away from the mess. I'm serious, you can sleep here too if it gets too dusty.

  2. Hi Linda,
I know exactly waht you are going through, and it is tough. We gutted the kithcen a few years ago, and with Joe in construction, he did all the work and me too. Patience and God's grace will get you through this. When the worst is over, it becomes exciting, with new appliances and a sink.
We rotated fast food places for weeks !! Keep taking those picnics at the park. Makes for a time of reflection, fresh air, and good memories. take care

  3. When our plumbing was out, I put a bucket under the sink and just dumped it in the garden. Everytime the dishwasher drained, I watered the plants with a 5 gallon bucket. I know that your kitchen will be fantastic! We will have to come see it in person!

  5. What an awesome job! I didn't know Randy was gifted in that area ,too. Ask if he would like to come and do mine; too. God did a reversal here. Don't you think? Took something bad and made it for the better. I'm sure you'll enjoy many hours in your new kitchen!

  6. Hi Linda Sweetie...
I don't know if you will remember me or not. We met at the AZ Bloggers luncheon last season. Well, we are going to be having another luncheon the end of this month, and we would so love for you to come. Many other new bloggers are attending. All of the information is on my blog. Please stop by and see if the time slot works with your schedule.

Oh my are you ever going to have a beautiful kitchen soon. When we do things ourselves it means so much more to us.

You wedding pictures (of your friends) are just beautiful. I too loved the littlest one. How sweet she was. They all looked precious in their little checkered dresses. Someone did a beautiful job.

Thank you for sharing sweetie. Country hugs...Sherry
