Ok, so I often whine about the lack of extreme weather conditions here in Phoenix.
You know, other than the usual extreme heat.
Well, I SHALL WHINE NO MORE!
Cuz, last night THE DUST STORM OF ALL DUST STORMS slammed into the Valley
in EPIC PROPORTIONS!
We're talking 100 miles wide and up to 2 miles high!
This morning we found everything outside covered in a thick layer of dirt.
Very strange... very creepy.

Stunning footage! You won't believe your eyes!
Yikes! That's scary! It reminds me of a book I read last year about the Dust Bowl years in the MidWest. They used to have dust storms like that on a daily basis--can you imagine?
ReplyDeleteThat was awful.Glad to hear your OK.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a few smaller, much smaller ones and have shook my head in wonder...this was down right frightening. Must have looked like the aftermath of a bomb...
ReplyDeleteglad you are all o.k.
I'm going to be a total downer and put this out there...Please be aware of a disease called Valley Fever or the technical name coccidioidomycosis. It's a fungal disease that is caused when you inhale spores from newly unearthed dust. I've had it for over a year now after a dust storm that hit here in Bakersfield, CA. Usually symptoms begin showing up 2-3 weeks after you've been exposed. I'm leaving a link from University of Arizona just in case you haven't been educated about it http://www.vfce.arizona.edu/ValleyFeverInPeople/Default.aspx yet. Arizona has at least 2/3 of the nations Valley Fever cases. I happen to live in California's major hotbed for the disease. When I saw that crazy photo I felt I needed to say something...God Bless!
ReplyDeletePS LOVE your blog!
